Microsoft's Agent chief bets that by 2027, AI will no longer wait for your questions—it will deliver work results directly through an information feed.

Beating AI News Flash: Nicolas Bustamante, head of Microsoft's proactive AI Agent team, predicts that AI feeds may become the mainstream interaction method by 2027.

The chat model leaves too much work to users: figuring out what AI can do, writing prompts, providing context, and repeatedly directing the Agent. To get billions of people using Agents daily, we can't expect everyone to learn these operations.

The AI feed he envisions is more like an auto-updating to-do list: emails that need replies already have drafts written by AI; sales data has just been updated, and the report to send to the team is already prepared. Users browse it like scrolling through social media, approving, modifying, or ignoring as needed, and only enter chat mode for complex issues. Meta's Muse has already begun proactively offering suggestions and executing tasks.

This model also has a layer of business logic. When users open the feed every day, AI can recommend restaurants, products, or services based on personal plans, subsidizing Agent operating costs through clearly labeled ads.
