Lumentum optical components are in short supply, with optical communication sector stocks LITE and AAOI both rising over 3%.

BlockBeats news, October 9: Lumentum CEO Michael Hurlston said in an interview with Bloomberg in Tokyo today that, driven by AI data center demand, the company's optical component capacity has been sold out through early 2029.

He said the supply-demand imbalance is expected to persist: demand for some products will still be about 70% unmet next year, while others will still face a supply shortfall equivalent to about 30% of demand through 2028.

According to TradingBeats monitoring, as of press time, the latest traded prices of LITE and AAOI perpetual contracts on Hyperliquid were $1,092 and $111.77, respectively, up about 3.6% and 3.3% from before the report was published at 08:24 this morning.
