动察 Beating AI news flash: Anthropic has plugged Claude directly into Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides. The new Claude for Google Workspace is now in public beta for all paid plans. Once installed, Claude appears on the right side of the file, can read the current file and the user's selected content, and make edits directly in the original file.
All three apps can take direct action. Docs can rewrite and rearrange documents; Sheets can write formulas, create pivot tables and native charts, and even use Python to clean data and write it back to the spreadsheet; Slides can generate new pages based on existing templates and check for issues such as overlapping elements and text overflow. By default, every change requires user confirmation, though continuous execution can also be selected.
Anthropic has also launched new Docs, Sheets, and Slides connectors. Users can also create or edit Google files from the Claude chat in reverse, simply by pasting the file link. Previously, Claude's Google Workspace integration was mainly used to search Gmail, Calendar, and Drive content; this time it has truly expanded its capabilities from "reading materials" to "directly editing files."
There are still some limitations. The Workspace sidebar can by default only operate on the currently open file and cannot handle Docs comments or existing suggestions; after the sidebar is closed, tasks in progress will also stop. The entire feature is still in Beta.
