AMD's Su Zifeng holds secret meeting with TSMC, confirms that its billion-dollar investment in Taiwan will be increased.

BlockBeats news, October 6th, according to Taiwan media "Economic Daily News," AMD (AMD.O) CEO Lisa Su today intensively visited Foxconn, Quanta, Asus, Acer, and other contract manufacturing and brand giants, and in the afternoon drove straight to Hsinchu for a closed-door meeting with wafer foundry leader TSMC. Facing strong AI computing demand, Lisa Su confirmed that AMD's previously announced $10 billion (approximately NT$317.6 billion) supply chain investment plan in Taiwan is not only on schedule, but due to surging market demand, it has decided to increase the related investment amount and will continue to expand supply chain investment in Taiwan in the future. Lisa Su stated that it is very important for AMD to maintain close cooperation with key suppliers and partners.

Regarding the supply situation of chips such as CPUs and GPUs, Lisa Su said bluntly that now is an exciting time for all computing fields. This year, driven by overall market demand, AMD has significantly expanded production, but demand still exceeds supply, so AMD is working with TSMC, back-end packaging and testing, and substrate suppliers to accelerate capacity ramp-up.
