BlockBeats news, October 6 — According to a report by Het Financieele Dagblad, Polymarket has filed a lawsuit with the Hague court, seeking to overturn the Netherlands' ban on it and restore market access. The Dutch Gambling Authority (Ksa) determined in February this year that Polymarket is an unlicensed gambling platform rather than a prediction platform, and ordered it to stop serving Dutch users.
Because the service shutdown occurred later than the deadline, the Ksa has already collected a fine of 420,000 euros. Polymarket plans to argue before the court that its event contracts are closer to financial products such as futures and should be regulated by the Netherlands Authority for the Financial Markets (AFM), rather than the Ksa.
