OKX files with the U.S. SEC to launch a tokenized U.S. stock trading platform.

BlockBeats news, October 5th, according to Bloomberg, OKX has filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to launch a tokenized U.S. stock trading platform, becoming one of the first major crypto trading platforms to utilize new U.S. regulations to carry out related business. The operating entity OKXICE LLC plans to initially offer tokenized stocks of 63 NYSE-listed companies, and the relevant issuers may opt out within 30 days before trading begins.

OKXICE was jointly established by OKX and Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), the parent company of the New York Stock Exchange, combining OKX's blockchain infrastructure with ICE's market technology. ICE took a stake in OKX in March of this year, at which time the transaction valued OKX at $25 billion, and the two parties also agreed to cooperate in developing U.S.-regulated crypto futures business.

The SEC previously adopted a temporary exemption allowing blockchain versions of securities to be traded in the United States. Under the relevant rules, tokenized securities must include full shareholder rights such as dividends and voting rights. The launch time of OKXICE still depends on the end of the 30-day opt-out period and the implementation of other requirements. Andrew Cuomo, co-chairman of OKXICE, said the model can support 24-hour global stock trading.
