El Salvador's Bitcoin holdings limit issue resolved, IMF approves $138 million disbursement.

BlockBeats news, October 2: The International Monetary Fund (IMF) approved the disbursement of 138 million USD to El Salvador as part of its 1.4 billion USD Extended Fund Facility (EFF) program.

In this review, the IMF approved a waiver for El Salvador regarding previously unmet program requirements related to Bitcoin accumulation limits. The IMF stated that El Salvador has taken corrective measures and committed to continuing to reduce the government's involvement in Bitcoin-related activities.

According to IMF disclosures, El Salvador is expected to refrain from further Bitcoin accumulation beyond the already recorded donations, while continuing to strengthen transparency disclosures and the regulatory framework for government-held crypto assets.

This disbursement is part of El Salvador's 40-month EFF program, totaling approximately 1.4 billion USD, which was approved in 2025.
