Beating AI News Flash: Doubao is developing a personal AI assistant product named "Xiaodou" and plans to launch a standalone app.

"Xiaodou" was not hastily initiated after Muse went viral; the name was already decided this summer. Doubao began internal testing of a personal assistant project codenamed "Spell" in April this year, initially led by the Doubao mobile assistant team. Recently, the project has begun further integration with Doubao's existing products and is now jointly managed by the Spell project and the Doubao conversation team.

ByteDance is accelerating the push of its existing personal assistant project toward an official product. The main Doubao app continues to serve as a general AI entry point, "Doubao Work" focuses on office use, and "Xiaodou" targets the consumer-grade personal assistant segment.
