BlockBeats news, September 30, according to CNBC, prediction market platform Polymarket has hired Lisa Mantil, who has nearly 30 years of experience at Goldman Sachs, as head of institutional growth to drive the platform's efforts to attract Wall Street capital and expand its institutional business.
Mantil was previously a partner at Goldman Sachs and served as global head of the bank's ETF accelerator, responsible for helping clients launch investment products. She said she will use her experience helping institutions adopt new products and enter new markets to expand the application of prediction markets in investment and risk management strategies. Polymarket founder and CEO Shayne Coplan said Mantil's institutional experience and relationships will support the company's next phase of expansion.
Growth in prediction markets had previously been driven mainly by retail participants trading sports-related contracts, and platforms are now seeking to increase institutional liquidity. Polymarket's international platform has completed its first block trade; brokers working with early institutional participants said the company is also discussing conducting block trades on its U.S. platform and is close to having the relevant capabilities, but Polymarket declined to comment on specific progress.
