Trump's approval rating drops to 37%, Republicans' concerns about midterm elections intensify.

BlockBeats news, September 26, according to The Wall Street Journal, about 5 weeks before the U.S. midterm elections, Trump predicted to people around him that Republicans would achieve better-than-expected results in November, but Republican candidates, strategists, and lawmakers are increasingly worried about the election outlook. The latest Wall Street Journal poll shows that Trump's approval rating has dropped to 37%, the lowest level for any president before midterm elections since the survey began in 1990.

The survey was conducted from September 16 to 21, interviewing 1,500 registered voters, with a margin of error of plus or minus 2.5 percentage points. Among voters who supported Trump in 2024, 11% said they regretted voting for him; among Republican voters who do not identify as part of the MAGA camp, 11% also plan to support Democrats in the congressional elections.

Recently, Republican candidates in some key states have publicly called for an end to the war with Iran, or have distanced themselves from Trump's immigration and energy policies. Democrats need to gain only a few seats to retake the House of Representatives, and the Republican-controlled Senate is also seen as too close to call. Trump is currently focusing on about 35 competitive races and plans to campaign for Republican candidates through remote rallies and trips to swing states.
