Overseas Engineer Complains About Out-of-Control AI Code Generation: Working 13 Hours a Day Just to 'Press Enter'

Beating AI News Flash: An engineer who recently joined a large company posted on X that almost all engineering work on the team is currently done by Claude Code, including spec documents, code, tests, PRDs, tickets, and problem solutions. He said management believes that "pushing code is not the bottleneck," and therefore constantly demands that the team increase delivery speed. Employees work 12 to 13 hours a day, yet are merely constantly "pressing Enter."

The engineer said that almost no one on the team has time to read the generated code or truly fix bugs. From junior to senior engineers, everyone is repeating the process of talking with AI and submitting code. "No one is thinking anymore." He said he is not opposed to using AI for programming, but at the very least there should be time to check the code and understand the system, while the team's current goal is simply to launch as quickly as possible, "no matter what happens."
