The malfunction involved the Federal Reserve's National Information Center, a system used to provide bank-related data to regulators.
It is reported that the National Information Center database experienced a malfunction of more than 24 hours around August 5. Senator Elizabeth Warren said in a letter that the database malfunction raised concerns that Federal Reserve staffing cuts could affect system maintenance and bank supervision work.
