Beating AI News Flash: OpenAI has acquired AI camera company Glass Imaging in recent months, with the deal valued at over $300 million.
Glass Imaging was founded by two former Apple engineers, Ziv Attar and Tom Bishop. Both were previously involved in iPhone camera technology development, including Portrait Mode.
Glass Imaging directly uses AI to process raw data captured by cameras, reducing noise, blur, and image quality loss caused by the lens itself, aiming to enable small devices like smartphones to capture results close to professional cameras.
This GlassAI system has already been deployed in mass-produced phones, used in the zoom imaging of the Honor 600 series.
