Bitcoin edges higher against the trend, AI slowdown fears drag down US stocks, oil prices approach $107.

BlockBeats news, September 14 - Divergence emerged in the performance of US stocks and the crypto market. Affected by concerns over a slowdown in frontier AI development, US tech stocks broadly declined in pre-market trading on Monday, while Bitcoin rose about 1% against the trend to $77,800, and Ethereum gained about 1% to $2,500.

Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei recently called for slowing down frontier AI development so that safety measures can keep pace with technological progress, with OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and Musk expressing agreement. South Korea's KOSPI index fell about 3%, SK Hynix dropped 6%; in US pre-market trading, the Nasdaq 100 ETF fell about 1.5%, Nebius and CoreWeave dropped 6% and 5% respectively, and SanDisk and Intel both fell about 5%.

Meanwhile, a sharp rise in oil prices further intensified market pressure. Brent crude rose more than 3% to around $107 per barrel, and WTI broke above $103. Gold fell nearly 1% to $4,300 per ounce, and silver dropped about 1.5%.

The Federal Reserve will begin a two-day policy meeting tomorrow, with the market almost unanimously expecting it to cut the benchmark interest rate by 25 basis points.
