As AI giants warn of slowing development pace, UK King to convene AI summit

BlockBeats news, September 14, according to The New York Times, King Charles III of the United Kingdom will meet with leaders of major artificial intelligence companies in Scotland this week, as concerns grow that the rapid, unchecked development of technology could lead to global catastrophe.

According to a statement from Buckingham Palace, Charles will convene leaders from companies including Nvidia, Google, DeepMind, OpenAI, and Anthropic, as well as government officials, to discuss how to develop and deploy artificial intelligence in a way that benefits society. They will meet at Dumfries House in Ayrshire, southwest Scotland, the headquarters of The King's Foundation, an educational charity. The gathering comes as AI insiders and some industry giants warn about these tools and their rapid development. Some are calling for shared guidelines and a deliberate slowing of development to ensure humanity can keep up.

The Buckingham Palace statement said the AI meeting convened by Charles will explore how to use the technology for the benefit of humanity, thereby strengthening community cohesion and improving people's lives.
