BlockBeats news, September 10: According to Reuters citing The Wall Street Journal, senior White House advisers including U.S. Vice President Vance and Secretary of State Rubio have privately warned Trump that the U.S.-Iran conflict could last until the end of his presidential term, or even beyond the presidential inauguration day in January 2029.
The report said the advisers stated in private discussions with Trump in the White House Oval Office and Situation Room that Iran may continue to resist U.S. pressure, leading to a prolonged conflict. This assessment differs markedly from Trump's previous public statements.
Trump expects the war to end "immediately after" the U.S. midterm elections in November, and said Iran is trying to influence the U.S. election but can no longer sustain resistance for long. Trump also said diplomatic negotiations remain possible, but are not his preferred option. Reuters said the White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
