Anthropic's AI Economy 'Wild Ride' Projection Echoes Musk's View: AI + Robots Will Double the Global Economy

Beating AI News Flash: Anthropic's latest economic scenario model shows that in the most extreme case, if AI can autonomously complete the vast majority of knowledge work and rapidly proliferate, U.S. annual GDP growth could reach 15%, with the economy doubling roughly every 4.5 years, and GDP potentially reaching $44.4 trillion by 2030, 32.4% higher than the no-AI scenario. Anthropic also emphasized that this is a conditional extreme scenario, not a forecast.

Previously, Musk also offered a more aggressive judgment. Musk recently said that after AI is combined with humanoid robots, it will drive global economic scale to achieve more than double growth in less than 10 years, and believes that mass production of humanoid robots will become an important milestone in this change.

The logic of the two clearly echoes each other: Anthropic measures the economic impact of large-scale AI automation of knowledge work, while Musk further extends AI capabilities into the physical world, arguing that after humanoid robots are mass-produced, the scope of automation will expand from the digital world to real-world production processes.

However, Anthropic clearly pointed out that its current model has not yet incorporated humanoid robots with superhuman capabilities. Its survey shows that the typical expectation of 10,980 U.S. respondents corresponds only to 2030 GDP being about 10% higher than the no-AI scenario, and only about 10% of respondents gave judgments close to the extreme scenario.
