Insilico Medicine's AI drug human trial detects anti-aging signals, with six aging clocks all showing a decrease in biological age.

动察 Beating AI Flash: Biotech company Insilico Medicine has published new research in Nature Biotechnology. The study analyzed Phase IIa clinical data for its AI-designed drug Rentosertib, finding that treated patients showed signals of reduced biological age across six protein-based aging clocks.


Rentosertib is primarily intended to treat idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. The study analyzed blood samples collected from 42 patients at four time points over 12 weeks, estimating "biological age" based on changes in thousands of proteins. The treatment group overall shifted toward a younger direction, while the placebo group remained largely unchanged or showed slight increases. Among them, the group receiving 30mg twice daily exhibited the most consistent signals.


However, this does not yet prove that the drug can truly make people younger or extend lifespan. All subjects were pulmonary fibrosis patients, and the sample size was small. The paper's authors noted that it is currently impossible to fully distinguish whether these changes stem from anti-aging effects or from alterations resulting from treating pulmonary fibrosis. To confirm genuine anti-aging efficacy, further validation in healthy populations is needed.
