Advisor to the UAE President: Alternative energy routes will be established, energy exports will not be "held hostage" by US-Iran conflict.

BlockBeats News, September 7 - Anwar Gargash, diplomatic adviser to the UAE president, said on Monday that the UAE is actively building alternative routes for energy exports and trade to ensure that core economic interests are not "held hostage" by the US-Iran conflict. He stressed, "Our energy exports will not be taken hostage, and our trade and economic activities will never be subject to external control."

Gargash stated that freedom of navigation is not a concession to be granted, nor a principle to be renegotiated under pressure, and any long-term solution must establish reliable security guarantee mechanisms to prevent Iran from attacking Gulf states again.

Against the backdrop of a blocked Strait of Hormuz and attacks on its territory and oil tankers, the UAE and Qatar on the same day called on Gulf states to enhance their own security capabilities. Majed Al-Ansari, spokesperson for Qatar's Foreign Ministry, said that while the strategic partnership with the US is important, "it is not enough," and Gulf states need to achieve greater self-sufficiency in the security sector.

Gargash noted that UAE-Iran relations may ultimately still have hope of recovery, but rebuilding mutual political trust after this attack could take decades. He also said that Gulf states can no longer assume that external allies will always prioritize their security.
