Gemini 3.8 Flash Officially Launched: Price Unchanged, Outperforms Opus 5 in Multiple Benchmarks

Insightful Beating AI News Flash: Google has officially launched Gemini 3.8 Flash. The new model continues to focus on long-term software engineering and autonomous Agents. With a context of approximately 1 million Tokens, it achieves a maximum output of 65,000 Tokens. Google's hosted Antigravity Agent has also been updated to default to 3.8 Flash.

In Google's own comparison chart, 3.8 Flash secured the first position in 8 out of 14 categories. DeepSWE v1.1 has seen an increase from 65.3% to 71.0%, approaching Opus 5 at 74.0%. Terminal-bench 2.1 has reached 89.4%, slightly higher than Opus 5 at 89.1% and GPT-5.6 Sol at 88.8%. It also scored the highest in Financial Agent, Legal Agent, Complex Chart Reasoning, and Long Video Comprehension.

However, it did not surpass the flagship across the board. Terminal-bench 4.0 is only at 19.1%, while Opus 5 is at 51.8%. OSWorld-2.0 also lags behind at 59.0% compared to Opus 5's 75.4%.

As of now, 3.8 Flash has an input of $0.75 and an output of $3.75 per million Tokens, the same as 3.7 Flash. Both prices are only 15% of Opus 5's. This discount is valid until December 31, doubling starting on January 1, 2027.
