The New York Stock Exchange is planning to move stocks to the blockchain for 24/7 trading, while the tokenization of NYSE securities remains to be confirmed.

According to PolyBeats monitoring, in the prediction market Polymarket, for the event "Which blockchain will the NYSE choose for tokenized securities?", options such as Ethereum, Solana, Base, etc., currently have no effective matching probabilities.

The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) is one of the oldest and largest stock exchanges in the United States, operated by Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), primarily providing centralized trading and listing services for securities such as listed company stocks and exchange-traded funds. Recently, NYSE has been advancing the development of a tokenized securities platform, planning to integrate the issuance, trading, custody, and settlement of traditional securities with distributed ledger technology such as blockchain.

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission announced on the 1st that it intends to rewrite the long-outdated registration transfer agent rules. The new proposal requires the main securities holder registry to be in electronic form and allows blockchain or other distributed ledger technologies to be part of the registry. Transfer agents will need to maintain control of the registry and disclose the tokenization model and distributed ledger platform used.

tZERO announced on August 31 that it has signed a memorandum of understanding with Intercontinental Exchange, the parent company of the New York Stock Exchange. tZERO will participate in designing digital transfer agents, broker-dealer onboarding, and on-chain settlement infrastructure. Intercontinental Exchange will also invest in tZERO and receive authorization for its blockchain patent portfolio. The specific settlement chain has not yet been disclosed by both parties.

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission will host the U.S. Stock Market 24-Hour Trading Roundtable on September 17 to discuss overnight trading readiness, system resilience, and market operation arrangements. Regulatory approval, transfer agent responsibilities, and continuous settlement capabilities will continue to impact the implementation progress of the New York Stock Exchange's tokenized securities platform.
