BlockBeats News, September 2nd, at the G20 Central Bank Governors and Finance Ministers Meeting in Asheville, North Carolina, Musk delivered a speech via video link, making several significant predictions. He stated that AI software will become extremely advanced in 12 to 18 months, reaching a level comparable to "Stockfish" sometime next year, where humans will be unable to compete in the field of software development. By the end of next year, AI will be able to complete all digital tasks, meaning all work that does not require human hands-on shaping of physical objects. Musk roughly estimated that AI could potentially boost the global economy by 20% to 30%, equivalent to an annual increase of $20 trillion to $30 trillion.
In the field of robotics, Musk provided his most radical prediction: within a decade, there will be at least 1 billion humanoid robots worldwide, each outputting at least five times that of a human, resulting in a total productivity surpassing the sum of all humans. The practicality of humanoid robots depends on the product of AI software level, AI chip level, and electromechanical flexibility, all of which are currently improving exponentially, and robots will begin to manufacture robots, leading to recursive explosive growth.
At the same time, Musk warned of a severe power bottleneck in AI development. It is projected that by 2027, AI chips will face a power shortfall of at least 15 gigawatts, with AI chip production speed increasing by 40% to 50% annually, while the available power outside of China grows only by 10% to 20% per year, creating a significant imbalance in growth rates. Several companies, such as Google and Anthropic, have begun leasing computing power from SpaceX, as SpaceX has addressed the power supply issue by building its power plants. Furthermore, Musk called for regulatory agencies to adopt a "default permissible" rather than a "default prohibited" stance towards new technologies like AI, encouraging and embracing the development of new technologies.
