Injective Mainnet Suffers Nearly 4-Hour Downtime, Attacker Profits Around $4.88 Million

BlockBeats News, September 1st, according to on-chain researcher Rarma's analysis, Injective halted block production for approximately 3 hours and 42 minutes on August 31st. The block height recovered from 181,027,006 to 181,027,007 without any rollback occurring during this period. QuickNode's status records also indicated a network-wide blockage on the Injective mainnet that day, prompting the deployment of an emergency patch.

The attacker allegedly exploited Injective's insurance fund and permissionless binary options market creation mechanism multiple times, executing a total of 299 related operations. This ultimately funneled around 1,979.8 ETH, valued at approximately $4.88 million, to a single address.
