Tether CEO: Around $650 million in US Treasury Bonds Held Indirectly by People, Stablecoin Enables Bonds to Be Held Decentralized for the First Time

BlockBeats News, August 31st, Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino stated that Tether is driving the "decentralized holding" of US Treasury bonds through stablecoin technology, making the holding structure of US debt more secure.

Ardoino pointed out that if hostile nations hold hundreds of billions of US Treasury bonds, a single decision-maker could engage in large-scale selling in a short period, posing a risk to the US financial system. In contrast, behind the Tether stablecoin, there is a large number of bond holders, with approximately 650 million people currently indirectly holding related US Treasury bond assets. Investors would not make simultaneous selling decisions, thereby reducing the risk of concentrated sell-offs.

Ardoino stated that the traditional financial sector, after decades of so-called "financial innovation," has always failed to address this issue. Stablecoin technology has, for the first time, enabled a more widespread and decentralized holding of US Treasury bonds.
