Claude's Limit Gets Played in Word Game: $200 「20x」 in Just 5 Hours, Weekly Limit Only Marginally Higher than the $100 Tier

The Max 5x at $100 and the Max 20x at $200 may seem like the latter has four times the limit of the former based on the names. However, Anthropic's official documentation actually states that the 5x and 20x limits apply only to each 5-hour usage window. All paid plans also have weekly limits, but Anthropic has not disclosed how many times greater they are for the Pro tier.

This is also where users are feeling dissatisfied. A recent Reddit user's reverse calculation suggests that during the current temporary increased limit period, the total weekly limit of Max 20x is approximately only 2.25 times that of Max 5x.

Anthropic has even faced a lawsuit over this matter. A proposed class-action lawsuit filed in June claims that the actual total usage of Max 20x is only 6 to 8 times that of Pro, while Max 5x is around 3.5 times. According to this claim, the difference in weekly usage between the two tiers is also only about two times. The case is currently under review, and the court has not yet ruled on whether Anthropic engaged in false advertising.
