Former Alibaba Vice President Zhang Kaifu: AI has begun to enter the "self-improvement" stage, and a new round of exponential growth may come in the next one to two years

BlockBeats News, August 29th - At the 「AI × New Finance - Innovation Global Summit·Hong Kong Station and Yangtze River Star Program Launch Event」, Xiaomishu AI Founder and former Alibaba Vice President Zhang Kaifeng stated that the core change in AI over the past year has been the evolution of models from chatbots to Agents capable of continuously performing complex tasks. The next stage that is more worthy of attention is AI starting to participate in its own research, training, and inference optimization.

Zhang Kaifeng believes that this "recursive self-improvement" has already appeared in some research. If in the future AI can continuously optimize models and training efficiency like top researchers, the speed of technological advancement may once again experience exponential growth, making the next 1 to 2 years a key variable in AI development. He also predicts that as model capabilities continue to improve, AI Agents will transition from passive response to long-term online, actively performing tasks, thereby driving new infrastructure demands in cloud computing, identity authentication, cybersecurity, and more.
