Foreign Media: YMTC Files Lawsuit Against US Department of Defense

BlockBeats News, August 29th. According to foreign media reports, on August 28th local time, Chinese chip manufacturer CXMT filed a lawsuit against the U.S. Department of Defense to request removal from a blacklist.

According to Bloomberg, CXMT stated that its designed chips are for civilian and commercial use, not for military purposes, and claimed that it was mistakenly blacklisted. The lawsuit has been submitted to the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, with U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin listed as a defendant.

In a statement issued after filing the lawsuit, CXMT stated that the company is not a military enterprise and has suffered continued damage to its reputation and business interests since being first blacklisted in January 2025. The company further added that this action was taken to protect its commercial interests. According to Reuters, the U.S. Department of Defense stated in a release that as a matter of policy, the Department of Defense does not comment on pending or ongoing litigation.
