Powell Sends Hawkish Signal, Believes Current Financial Conditions Are Not Restrictive

BlockBeats News, August 28th, in a speech that was more hawkish than many in the market expected, Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Wash listed a series of indicators showing a strong economic situation, including high corporate profits, stable consumer spending, and a narrowing credit spread.

Wash stated: "In my view, the credit and lending markets have shown little sign of monetary policy acting as a constraint. Overall, I find it difficult to describe the current overall financial conditions as restrictive."

This statement boosted Wall Street's bets on a Fed rate hike.
