CZ: Diversified Development of Crypto Assets Will Be More Beneficial to Bitcoin

BlockBeats News, August 27, Binance founder CZ stated at the Bitcoin Asia 2026 conference:

“I believe that if this industry only had Bitcoin, the industry's development would actually be much slower. Having other blockchains does not weaken Bitcoin. Owning Ethereum, BNB Chain, and other blockchains actually helps the growth of Bitcoin. If there were no other blockchains, Bitcoin would be smaller. What benefits Bitcoin is also beneficial to other blockchains. So, the industry we are in is not a zero-sum game, not the kind of relationship where we steal from each other.

Bitcoin has its own uses; it is the largest by market value, the most decentralized, and will be a reserve currency for a long time to come. But other blockchains have more innovation. It is easier to try new things on other blockchains, and if Bitcoin can later adopt these innovations, that would be great.

So I think most ‘Bitcoin maximalists’ also realize that promoting only Bitcoin is not always the best. For me, I am a staunch supporter of Bitcoin. This is a Bitcoin conference, now called the Bitcoin Asia conference. But in the early days, the entire crypto industry was called the Bitcoin industry, and we later started calling it crypto. In fact, the word crypto is not that good because most ordinary people find it too scary, too mathematical, right? Most non-mathematical people feel a sense of distance. The name Web3 is still okay.

So I think terms and labels are not that important. I strongly believe that we should promote the development of the entire industry. There should be multiple blockchains, multiple trading platforms, multiple decentralized exchanges, multiple products - everything should be diversified. Only then will there be competition, more innovation, and more driving force. I think since the core idea of this industry is decentralization, we should take an open attitude, accept diversity, rather than one against another.”
