BlockBeats News, August 27th. According to Galaxy Research, during the period from August 16th to 26th, 6 Bitcoin wallets that had not moved since 2011, 2012, or 2014 were successively reawakened, with a total of 553.59 BTC transferred out, worth approximately $40.15 million at the time of transfer.
Among them, the largest single transfer came from a wallet dormant for 14 years, which transferred out 212 BTC, worth about $13.66 million; another wallet inactive since 2014 sent out 150 BTC, valued at $11.75 million. Additionally, 3 addresses from 2011 collectively transferred 132.31 BTC, worth $10.37 million.
The most recent transaction involved a wallet silent for 14.2 years transferring 40 BTC, worth around $3.14 million, with the funds going to the German crypto custody bank Boerse Stuttgart Digital. Based on an estimated initial cost of $5, the potential ROI for this batch of BTC is approximately 1,535,911%. The receiving addresses of the other 5 transactions have not been identified as exchange platforms, so it is currently unknown if the holders are prepared to sell.
2 of the 6 wallets are labeled as "Salomon Client Dusted," related to a New York case attempting to classify 39,069 dormant Bitcoin addresses as unclaimed property. Security incidents with hardware wallets may have prompted long-term holders to move funds, but neither of these scenarios can explain the activity of the other 4 wallets.
