6 Bitcoin Addresses Dormant for Over 10 Years Suddenly Wake Up, Transfer 553.59 BTC

According to Galaxy Research, during the period from August 16th to August 26th, a total of 553.59 BTC was successively transferred from 6 Bitcoin wallets that had been dormant since between 2011 and 2014. The total value of the transfers at the time of transfer is approximately $40.15 million.

Among them, the earliest wallet, dormant since June 2011 for 15.1 years, transferred 8.54 BTC; another wallet dormant for 14 years transferred 212 BTC, worth around $13.66 million. The most recent transaction involved 40 BTC transferred from a wallet dormant for 14.2 years, with the destination address tagged as the German crypto custodian Boerse Stuttgart Digital.

Galaxy Research pointed out that two of the wallets are labeled "Salomon Client Dusted," which is related to the New York "John Doe" case where an attempt was made to claim 39,069 Bitcoin addresses that had been dormant for a long time. In addition, a recent hardware wallet security incident may have also prompted some long-term holders to move their assets, but the specific reasons for the sudden awakening of these wallets cannot be confirmed at the moment.
