The biopharmaceutical sector has seen speculation in both the Hong Kong and US markets, with Moderna's stock surging over 14% and CanSino Biologics' stock in Hong Kong jumping over 17%.

BlockBeats News, August 26th, according to BIT (bit.com) market data, the biopharmaceutical sector saw speculation as Moderna (MRNA) surged by 14.36% in the US stock market, with a trading volume reaching $7.636 billion, and Merck (MRK) rose by 3.84%.

Recently, Moderna and Merck jointly announced the successful development of the first personalized mRNA cancer therapy, intismeran autogene, in a global Phase III clinical trial for high-risk melanoma. This marks a milestone breakthrough in the field of cancer immunotherapy. Several major banks have raised their price targets for Moderna: Bank of America raised Moderna's target price from $40 to $170, upgrading its rating to "Neutral"; Piper Sandler raised its target price from $77 to $167, maintaining an "Overweight" rating; Goldman Sachs raised its target price from $67 to $120, maintaining a "Neutral" rating; JPMorgan raised its target price from $40 to $77, and Barclays raised its target price from $48 to $125.


According to Bitget market data, after the opening of the Hong Kong stock market today, CanSino Biologics surged by 17%, Sino Biopharmaceutical rose by over 10%, Wuxi Biologics rose by over 7%, Kangmei Pharmaceutical rose by over 6%, and Sino Biopharmaceutical rose by over 4%. CanSino Biologics announced that its subsidiary CanSino Biologics Shanghai officially signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement with DeepVax Biologics for the joint development of an mRNA personalized therapeutic cancer vaccine, advancing the research and commercialization of the mRNA personalized therapeutic cancer vaccine.
