U.S. Stocks Slightly Up: Nasdaq Rises 0.5%, Chip Stocks Rally, Nvidia Earnings Report and Powell's Successor Speech in Focus

BlockBeats News, August 25th, according to BIT (Bit.com) market data, the U.S. stock market edged up slightly on Tuesday, with U.S. Treasury yields falling for a second consecutive day. The Nasdaq index was lifted by the rise in chip stocks. The S&P 500 index rose by 0.2%, the Nasdaq Composite index rose by 0.5%, and the Dow Jones index was basically flat.

The U.S. Treasury yield continued to decline, with the 10-year Treasury yield falling to 4.658%. Earlier reports indicated that the U.S. Treasury Department may use around $1 trillion from the Treasury General Account to repurchase bonds, pushing down long-term Treasury yields.

Chip stocks were a bright spot on the market, with NVIDIA rising by over 1%, AMD and Micron both rising by about 3%, and Intel rising by over 2%. The market is eagerly awaiting NVIDIA's earnings report after the market close on Wednesday, with a focus on the AI and semiconductor sectors.

Consumer stocks, on the other hand, were under pressure. Dick's Sporting Goods plummeted by over 27% due to disappointing performance, increasing the likelihood of the largest single-day drop in history; Walmart fell by about 1%, and Target fell by about 3%.

Additionally, investors are awaiting the U.S. Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) Price Index for July, which will be released on Wednesday. The recent drop in oil prices has also eased some inflation concerns, with international oil prices falling by over 3% on Tuesday.

Another major market variable this week is Fed Chair Kevin Warsh's speech on Friday at the Jackson Hole Symposium, where the market will pay close attention to his latest comments on monetary policy and interest rate outlook.
