Nvidia Plans to Invest in Meta | Rewire News Morning Brief

Read this article in 9 Minutes
Nvidia is preparing to expand collaboration on Muse and related models to optimize training and inference performance.

Nvidia plans to invest in Meta, further intertwining computing power supply and equity relationships. Stablecoin banks and on-chain index funds continue to advance, while a hardware wallet security incident reminds the market that the responsibility of financial infrastructure needs to cover the entire service chain.

01 | Nvidia plans to invest $3 billion in Meta, expanding Muse and computing power cooperation

Nvidia and Meta announced on October 27 an expansion of cooperation on Muse and related models to optimize training and inference performance. Meta plans to increase deployment of Vera Rubin, Vera CPU and supporting networking equipment. Nvidia also announced it will invest $3 billion in Meta's equity offering. This is a newly added specific investor and technical cooperation arrangement following yesterday's financing plan.

In analysis, a chip supplier simultaneously becoming a shareholder of its customer will deepen the ties between the two sides in capital and product roadmaps. It can support joint optimization, and it also makes it more necessary for the market to distinguish investment commitments, procurement demand and end-user revenue. For the AI industry, financing capability and deployment efficiency are jointly affecting competition. Follow-up attention should be paid to investment settlement, actual hardware delivery, and whether model usage growth can cover added costs. The performance targets in the cooperation announcement still need to be verified by actual operating results.

02 | Ripple receives final approval for national trust bank, stablecoin business responsibilities further clarified

Ripple announced on October 26 that its national trust bank RNTB has received final approval from the U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. Approved businesses include managing RLUSD segregated reserves, serving as trustee for reserve collateral, and providing fiduciary digital asset custody. RLUSD is still issued by Standard Custody & Trust Company, which is regulated by New York State. Approval and official opening also need to be distinguished.

In analysis, this step clarifies the different responsible entities in the stablecoin business. Issuance, reserve management and institutional custody can be undertaken by different entities, and regulation needs to be implemented along these relationships. A bank charter adds federal oversight and also provides institutional clients with a clearer cooperation framework. But whether the business can grow still depends on payment demand, service costs and asset security. Licensing progress itself cannot directly infer XRP usage or price changes; specific business evidence is still needed between the two.

03 | GPT-6.1 Terra released, computer operation models continue to lower invocation prices

OpenAI released GPT-6.1 Terra on October 26, opening it to the API and Codex. The company positions it for visual understanding and computer operation tasks. Standard API pricing is $1 per million input tokens and $5 per million output tokens. The company says its standard price is 50% lower than GPT-5.6 Terra and GPT-6.1 Sol.

Analytically, a lower per-call price helps agents take on more invoice entry, form processing, and software operation tasks. But enterprises actually pay for the cost of the entire workflow, including retries, human review, and error correction. Comparing models therefore requires looking at success rates, latency, and the total spend to complete a job at the same time. Officially disclosed benchmark gains provide a reference but cannot directly replace real business validation. The closer computer operations get to payment, permission changes, and similar steps, the higher the requirements for execution boundaries.

04 | Keystone plans to destroy nearly 19,000 wallets, as authentication key leak exposes service-chain risks

CoinDesk reported on October 27 that Keystone plans to destroy 18,835 unsold hardware wallets and suspend shipments after its website was compromised. The company said the incident exposed 25,964 buyer records and a key used for device authenticity verification, potentially allowing fake devices to pass inspection. That key is different from user private keys, and the company said mnemonic phrases, private keys, and wallet credentials were not leaked.

Analytically, the security boundary of hardware wallets extends to websites, supply chains, and after-sales verification systems. Even if signing keys remain inside the device, leaked customer data can still help attackers carry out targeted phishing and impersonate recall notices. The company also admitted that its automated deletion tool failed and that some data was retained beyond the promised period. Reducing data retention and ensuring deletion mechanisms actually work is therefore also part of asset security. The security of the entire service chain cannot be judged solely by the fact that the device is offline.

Robinhood's third-quarter crypto trading revenue fell 55% year over year. The October 27 earnings report showed that revenue was $120 million. Total net revenue rose 12% year over year to about $1.42 billion, while event contract revenue reached $173 million. Overall platform growth and crypto trading activity diverged. Firedancer vulnerability report requires burning 1 SOL. A October 27 report noted that updated bug bounty rules require submitters to bear a non-refundable burn cost. The team hopes to reduce duplicate or low-quality reports generated with AI assistance. Generating reports is becoming cheaper, but verifying real risk still requires engineer effort. CF Benchmarks launches on-chain benchmark data service. According to a report on October 27, CFB Oracle provides its price benchmarks to on-chain applications, which can be used for fund valuation, collateral management, and derivatives. Reliable quotes are a foundational element after assets go on-chain, but data services themselves do not eliminate liquidity and liquidation risks. (Source: CoinDesk)

Bessent incorporates digital assets into the U.S. technology competition narrative. The U.S. Treasury Secretary said on October 27 at a Ripple event that digital assets could help strengthen the global position of the dollar, and discussed collaboration with the SEC and CFTC to clarify rules. This is a policy statement; specific regulatory changes still need to be based on formal documents and implementation actions. (Source: CoinDesk)
