The Iranian Parliament has approved charging a fee for vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz

BlockBeats News, August 24th, according to Iran's Mehr News Agency, Hassan Kashkavi, the spokesperson for the Iranian Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, announced on Sunday that the committee has passed the third article of the "Strategic Action Plan to Ensure the Security and Development of the Hormuz Strait." Hassan Kashkavi stated: "Under this article, we will charge fees for provided maritime services, environmental services, fuel supply in special circumstances, insurance, security, and other services. These fees will be charged to vessels from relevant countries authorized to pass through the Hormuz Strait, payable in rials or other currencies designated by the Islamic Republic of Iran."

Hassan Kashkavi emphasized the need to respect the rights of the countries bordering the Hormuz Strait. We must not forget that apart from recognizing the freedom of navigation, international laws and regulations also emphasize respecting the security and sovereignty of coastal states and preventing any infringement of these rights.
