BlockBeats News, August 20, OpenAI CFO Sarah Friar stated to employees at an all-hands meeting on August 19 that the company "will become a public company in 2027," with the possibility of an earlier IPO if the business continues to accelerate.
She emphasized that the IPO is just a milestone, not the end goal, and mentioned that the company had raised $122 billion in March, providing ample flexibility. Previously, OpenAI had confidentially submitted an S-1 filing to the U.S. SEC in June of this year.
According to a report by the WSJ, the company's revenue in the second quarter of 2026 reached $6.7 billion, up 18% from the previous quarter, but operating losses widened to $12.3 billion, still without achieving profitability.
