BlockBeats News, August 20th - President Trump met with executives from crypto and fintech companies such as Coinbase, Ripple, Robinhood, Gemini, Chainlink at the White House's Roosevelt Room on Wednesday, where he delivered a speech expressing support for cryptocurrency.
Trump stated that his administration has "completely ended the war on cryptocurrency," highlighting the industry's growth and emphasizing the need for the U.S. to maintain an "undisputed leadership position" in areas such as Bitcoin, cryptocurrency, prediction markets, and artificial intelligence, striving to become the "global cryptocurrency capital."
He mentioned that the U.S. government has been discussing accumulating a "meaningful amount" of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, noting that cryptocurrency has "significantly alleviated pressure on the dollar." He also urged Congress to swiftly pass a "fair version" of the Clarity Act (Digital Asset Market Clarity Act), stating that this would put the U.S. ahead of China and other countries.
Trump also referenced efforts by CFTC Chairman to bring Hyperliquid into the U.S. market in a compliant manner. He also highlighted achievements such as the signed Genius Act (Stablecoin Legislation), strategic Bitcoin reserves, and the prohibition of CBDC.
