BlockBeats News, August 20th - On Wednesday, U.S. President Trump met with industry executives from Coinbase, Kraken, Ripple, Chainlink, and other cryptocurrency companies at the White House, calling on Congress to pass the CLARITY Act. However, this meeting once again raised concerns: Trump and his family are benefiting significantly from the cryptocurrency industry.
According to financial disclosure documents, Trump received over $1.4 billion in income from cryptocurrency-related businesses in 2025, including Trump's personal token project, the family's cryptocurrency firm World Liberty Financial (WLF), and stablecoin-related transactions. This income surpassed the total revenue from his traditional real estate and licensing businesses.
During the White House meeting, Trump stated that the CLARITY Act will help the U.S. establish a clearer regulatory framework for digital assets and maintain a leading position in crypto innovation. He said the act will "usher in the next wave of innovation."
However, as Trump promotes crypto-friendly policies, his personal wealth growth has been questioned by Democratic lawmakers and some regulators. Critics believe that the Trump family's cryptocurrency business interests pose a potential conflict of interest with government regulations in the industry. The White House has denied these allegations, stating that Trump's policy goal is to make the U.S. a global crypto hub.
During the meeting, Trump also mentioned that U.S. regulatory agencies are facilitating the entry of the decentralized perpetual contracts trading platform Hyperliquid into the U.S. market in a "fully compliant" manner.
