BlockBeats News, August 20th, two U.S. officials told Axios that the U.S. military has quietly established a shipping lane in the Strait of Hormuz, transporting millions of barrels of oil per day.
Despite a more widespread stalemate in the war, this action has achieved significant results. The operation has been ongoing for weeks, with 15 to 20 oil tankers currently transiting through the southern channel off the coast of Oman into the Strait of Hormuz. Officials said that approximately 10 million barrels of oil are being shipped out via the strait each day, entering the global energy market, but this number is about half of the pre-war volume.
This U.S.-led operation is alleviating one of the most severe impacts of the war: disrupted oil supplies that have driven a sharp increase in crude prices. Officials stated that while the current oil flow through the strait remains below pre-war levels, it has already had a significant impact on global oil supply.
