Tencent Continues to Poach Top AI Talent: Revealed xAI Multimodal Lead Joins Meituan

DongCha Beating AI Newsflash: xAI multimodal understanding leader Lin Xudong was reported to have joined Tencent MixedVerse. Lin Xudong previously worked on the Gemini multimodal model at Google DeepMind before joining xAI to lead the multimodal understanding direction.

This marks the third core researcher Tencent has attracted from foreign tech giants in less than a year. Yao Shunyu has been appointed Tencent's Chief AI Scientist, and former OpenAI researcher Tian Yonglong also joined in July to contribute to visual-linguistic model development.
