Strategy's Response to "Facing MSCI Index Exclusion": Bitcoin Doesn't Need MSCI, and Neither Does Strategy

BlockBeats News, August 14th, Strategy responded to the "Facing Possible MSCI Index Removal" stating: "Digital assets are assets. Index providers should measure the market rather than decide which assets companies can hold."

Strategy stated that MSCI's proposal is not aligned with regulatory bodies, the market, or its own clients, emphasizing: "Bitcoin doesn't need MSCI, and Strategy doesn't either."

Previously reported, MSCI is seeking feedback on a new non-operating company identification method, which could result in Strategy and Metaplanet being removed from the MSCI Global Investable Market Index. Based on a simulation using data from May 2026, Strategy, Metaplanet, and uranium investment firm Yellow Cake would be excluded from the MSCI ACWI IMI, while companies like SharpLink would be added to the watchlist.
