ChatGPT will no longer rely on screenshots to remember you: Computer memory changed to record operation trajectory

According to the Beating Motion monitoring, OpenAI has launched Computer History, formally replacing the previous Chronicle. The old version relied on screenshots to understand what you were recently doing on your computer, while the new version completely eliminates screenshots and instead records actions such as clicks, inputs, shortcuts, and app switches.

These records will be organized into a timeline and local memory. In the future, when you ask "What file did I just edit?" or "What was I busy with yesterday?" both ChatGPT and Codex can first locate the information from the history. OpenAI stated that compared to Chronicle, the new solution consumes fewer tokens.

It can also discover repetitive actions and suggest turning them into Skills or Automations. Previously, it only remembered "what you did," but now it starts to remember "how you usually work."

Currently, Computer History is only available on macOS for Pro, Business, and Enterprise users, is off by default, and can also selectively exclude certain apps and websites.
