AMD Secures Anthropic's Multi-billion Dollar Chip Order, Also to Invest $5 Billion for Equity Stake

BlockBeats News, July 23rd, according to The Wall Street Journal, AMD has signed a multi-billion dollar AI server collaboration agreement with Anthropic. Under the terms of the agreement, starting from the first half of 2027, Anthropic will purchase up to 2 exaflops of AMD's latest generation Instinct MI450 chips for its data centers and lease part of the computing power to other major cloud service providers or new cloud players. When certain (computing power) deployment milestones are reached, AMD will invest up to $5 billion in Anthropic, marking its first investment in an AI company.

AMD's CEO stated, "We have always been very eager to become a key partner in Anthropic's infrastructure, and the engineering teams of both companies have been collaborating for some time."
