OpenAI Raises Cloud Service Spending Forecast to $700 Billion, Launches Enterprise AI Agent Platform Presence

Sources revealed that OpenAI has raised its projected compute spending through 2030 from around $600 billion earlier this year to about $750 billion. This growth reflects OpenAI's new agreements with cloud computing service providers to rapidly access the massive compute power needed to develop and run AI models.

On Wednesday, OpenAI announced a $20 billion investment to launch a data center project named "Camellia" in Effingham County, Georgia. Sashin Katthi, OpenAI's VP of Compute Strategy, stated that the company has signed a contract with Georgia Power to secure 3.2 gigawatts of power supply between 2028 and 2032, with project costs estimated to exceed $30 billion. This could make the facility one of the largest data centers OpenAI has built to date. Sources revealed that OpenAI has hired Brent Mayo to help ensure the data center project stays on track; he is a key architect from Musk's data center construction projects.

Meanwhile, OpenAI has officially launched the enterprise AI agent platform Presence, which deeply integrates AI models with internal company data, policies, and business processes, offering automation solutions for scenarios such as customer service, sales, and IT support, rather than just selling model access.
