Jack Dorsey has open-sourced an AI-powered version of Slack and is considering integrating GitHub as well.

According to Insight Beating monitoring, Jack Dorsey's Block has released Buzz. It is an open-source collaboration platform for both humans and AI Agents, aiming to blend Slack's team chat with GitHub's code collaboration.

Buzz offers channels, thread topics, direct messages, voice, media sharing, automated workflows, and Git hosting. Agents join as independent members with their own identity and permissions. They can send messages, commit and review code, and trigger workflows. The platform supports Claude Code, Codex, and goose.

Buzz is based on the Nostr protocol. Messages, workflows, and Git operations are all signed and written to a unified event log. Teams can self-host or use Block's hosted version. The project is licensed under the Apache 2.0 open source license.

Buzz has provided macOS, Windows, and Linux clients, but the product is still in its early stages. The mobile version and some workflow approval features are not yet complete.
