Palantir CEO: AI Could Grow My Wealth 20x, While Exacerbating Social Wealth Disparities

BlockBeats News, July 20th, Palantir CEO Alex Karp recently stated that Artificial Intelligence (AI) may bring significant wealth creation opportunities, but the wealth benefits will be highly concentrated among a few technology and capital owners, further widening the social wealth gap.

Karp, in an interview with MDMeets podcast, said that AI will enhance the quality of life for ordinary people, but those involved in the development and mastery of AI technology may experience a much faster wealth growth rate than ordinary workers. He predicts that AI could even increase his own wealth by about 20 times, bringing his net worth to close to $300 billion.

Karp currently has a personal wealth of about $15 billion, mainly benefiting from Palantir's recent developments in the AI field and the company's increased valuation. He mentioned that the future middle-class income could double within a decade, for example, a salary of $70,000 increasing to $140,000, but compared to the massive wealth growth in the AI sector reaching hundreds of billions of dollars, there still exists a significant gap.

“There may be a complete disconnect between wealth and ordinary wealth.” Karp said that the wealth concentration brought about by AI will become a societal issue.

Karp is not a skeptic of AI but a key beneficiary of the AI industry. Palantir is currently valued at around $322 billion, with its business focus on an artificial intelligence platform, data analysis, and government and enterprise AI applications.

In recent years, many figures in the technology and finance sectors have also expressed similar concerns. BlackRock CEO Larry Fink stated that the early benefits of AI mainly flow to the owners of models, data, and infrastructure; "AI godfather" Geoffrey Hinton warned that the wealthy might use AI to replace labor, leading to increased unemployment and further concentration of profits.
