Kimi to Split Code and Sell It Individually, Website Plus Programming Minimum Annual Fee Threshold to Increase by 228%

According to Dyno Beat monitoring, Kimi is revamping its individual membership system. The original membership, which included access to the website, app, and Kimi Code, has been split into a General Membership and a Coding Plan. Both types of features will now require separate payments.

On an annual payment basis, the old Andante tier was priced at 468 CNY and included website access and basic Code usage. The new system's lowest-tier combination is Go plus Starter, priced at a total of 1536 CNY. The entry threshold has increased by a factor of 3.28, a 228% rise.

The changes for pure coding users are more intricate. The new Starter tier and the old Moderato tier are both priced at 99 CNY per month but no longer include website and app access. For those needing high-speed capabilities and a context range of 1 million, the monthly payment threshold has risen from the old Allegretto tier's 199 CNY to the new Explorer tier's 299 CNY, a increase of about 50%.

Kimi stated that the new Code plan removes the monthly total usage limit, allowing users to utilize more Tokens at the same price point. However, there is no publicly available direct comparison of the absolute usage limits between the old and new plans. Currently, it is unclear whether the additional usage allowance can offset the removal of universal benefits and the price increases for certain tiers.

Existing plans will not be forcibly migrated. Current users can continue to use the service and will be automatically renewed. For those still on the old plans, there is currently no clear incentive to actively switch to the new plans.
