BlockBeats news, November 2 — According to the official GitHub page, the Solana Foundation has merged the SIMD-0567 proposal into the main branch. The proposal aims to replace the existing Associated Token Account (ATA) program with p-ATA, an optimized version developed based on Pinocchio, to reduce Compute Unit (CU) consumption and improve execution efficiency.
According to the proposal, p-ATA adopts a no-std design, avoids heap memory allocation, parses instructions and account data via zero-copy, and minimizes dependencies. Developer benchmarks previously showed that compared with the old program, p-ATA can reduce transaction execution time by about 35%; when a Rent Sysvar account is provided, CU consumption is further reduced, but actual execution time increases slightly, with transaction-level time regression of about 1%. The proposal previously underwent multiple rounds of technical review and was formally merged 17 hours ago after completing formal verification of the new program, updating the program binary hash, and the migration process.
It should be noted that merging the proposal does not mean the program replacement has been completed on mainnet; subsequent steps still involve deploying the new program according to the established migration process.
