According to Perceive Beating monitoring, the Dark Side of the Moon has officially released the next-generation flagship model Kimi K3. The model supports a context of 1 million tokens and is capable of processing text, images, and videos simultaneously. It is mainly targeted at long-term programming, research, and knowledge work.
The total parameters of K3 reach 2.8 trillion, utilizing a hybrid expert architecture. Each run only activates 16 out of 896 experts. The Dark Side of the Moon claims this to be the first 3 trillion-level open model.
Official evaluations show that in partial programming and Agent testing, K3 outperforms Claude Opus 4.8 and GPT-5.5. However, it still lags behind Claude Fable 5 and GPT-5.6 Sol overall.
K3 has been launched with Kimi, Kimi Work, Kimi Code, and API. The API input price is $3 per million tokens, with an output of $15.
However, the full weight plan is set to be released no later than July 27.
