The Dark Side of the Moon Kimi K3 is set to be released soon, with expectations to surpass Opus 4.8

According to Singularity Watch monitoring, the Financial Times revealed that the Dark Side of the Moon (Kimi) project is set to release Kimi K3 in the coming days, with a model size ranging from 20 trillion to 30 trillion, making it the largest AI model in China to date.

Sources familiar with the matter indicate that based on mainstream benchmarking, K3 is expected to outperform Opus 4.8 but fall short of FABLE 5. It will be released as an "open-weight" model available for free download, posing a significant challenge to U.S. AI labs such as Anthropic and OpenAI.
